One pot whole green gram curry/ Pachapayiru curry
Healthy! Easy! Nutritious! Side dish for dosa/ chapathi/ aapam/ idiyappam!!!
Ingredients
Whole green gram- 1/2 cup
Onion-1 large
Tomato- 1 large or (small- 2)
Green chilli- 3
Red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
Garam masala- 1 tsp
Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Ginger- 1 inch finely grated
Garlic- 2 cloves finely grated
Coconut milk- 1/4 cup
Coriander leaves- garnish
Seasoning: Coconut oil- 1 tbsp; Mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp; Urad dal- 1/4 tsp, Curry leaves few

Coconut milk- 1/4 cup

Method
- Soak the green gram for 30 minutes.
- In a pressure cooker, add drained green gram, roughly chopped onion, tomatoes, green chilli, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, grated ginger and garlic, salt and garam masala.
- Add about 1/2 cup of water and mix well. Cook for 6-7 whistles.
- After opening the lid, mash it using the back of spatula. Check for salt and spices. You can adjust at this stage.
- Bring the curry to boil at medium flame. Add in the coconut milk and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Adjust the consistency as per your need. Do the seasoning and add it.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
