Channa masala/ Chickpea curry
This healthy recipe is a good combination with chapathis and batura.
Ingredients
Channa dal/ kondaikadalai/ chick peas- 1 cups
Onion- 2 medium size chopped
Tomato- 4 larger
Cinnamon- 1 inch
Cardamom- 3
Garam masala- 1 tsp
Red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder- 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp
Cumin- 1tsp
Amchoor powder/ mango powder- 1/2 tsp(substitute: 1/2 lime juice)
Oil- 2 tbsp
Coriander leaves- few to garnish

Coriander powder- 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp
Cumin- 1tsp

Method
- Soak the chick peas overnight and pressure cook in about 1/2 cup of water till soft which takes about 5-6 whistles. Reserve the water.
- Make a fine tomato puree.
- In the same pressure cooker, add oil and once the oil is hot, add the whole spices and cumin and saute few seconds.
- Then, throw in the chopped onions and cook till it turns light brown.
- Add in the ginger garlic paste and cook till the raw smell is out. Then add the tomato puree and all the spice powders and mix well.
- Let this cook in low flame till the oil is separated. Check the seasoning.
- Now add the cooked chickpeas along with the water used for cooking.
- Pressure cook for another 2 whistles. Garnish with coriander leaves.
