Paruppu Kuzhambu

                This recipe serves two and it goes well with rice and either potato fry or fish fry.


Ingredients

Thoor dhal- 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder- a pinch, Asafotedia(hing)- a pinch
Seasoning: Mustard, Red chilli- 1 whole, onion- 1 tsp(small cubes), urad dhal- ½ tsp, curry leaves


To make a fine paste: Coconut- 3 tbsp, Cumin seeds(Jeeragam)- 1 tsp, Green chillies- 3



Method



ü  Boil thoor dhal in pressure cooker with 2 cups of water and a little salt for 4 to 5 whistles and mash it once done.
ü  In a pan, add 2 tsps of oil and add the above items for seasoning , hing and turmeric powder and sauté it.
ü  Then add the ground paste and sauté thoroughly for a minute.
ü  Now, add the mashed dhal and mix finely in enough water and let it boil.
ü  Once boiling is done, add chopped coriander leaves.h
