Potato masala/ Poori masal/ Aloo masala


       Poori and potato masala is a special weekend breakfast in most of the South Indian homes if am correct. This is a best combo and the masala can also be enjoyed as a side dish for chapathis. This recipe will be love by the kids at your home. 



Ingredients

Potato- 4 medium
Tomato- 1 medium
Onion- 1 medium
Green chilli- 4 slit
Ginger- 1 inch
Fennel- 1 tsp
Mustard seeds, Urad dal- Seasoning
Curry leaves- a sprig
Coriander leaves- garnishing
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder- 1tsp
Cinnamon- 1/2 inch
Garam masala- 1/2 tsp
Salt
Oil- 1 tsp

Method

  • Thoroughly wash the potatoes and pressure cook with little water and salt for 5 to 6 whistles.
  • Peel the skin and take them in bowl.
  • Mash the potatoes and add little turmeric powder and water and give a mix, set aside.
  • In a pan, heat up the oil, add in mustard and urad dal, cinnamon, fennel, ginger, curry leaves, sliced onions and saute till onions are light brown.
  • Add the tomatoes, and cook till mushy.
  • Then add the mashed potatoes and add required water and mix well. Add the garam masala.
  • Cook well in medium flame  for 15 minutes covered.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
