Siruparuppu sambar
This sambar can be served as a side dish for idli and dosa and this recipe serves 2 persons..
Ingredients
Moong dhal/ Siruparuppu- 1/2 cup
Tomato-2(small cubes)
Potato- 1(grated)
Onion- 1/2(sliced)
Ginger- 1 inch piece(grated)
Turmeric powder- pinch
Green chillies- 5(slitted)
Coriander leaves- few
Curry leaves- few
Mustard seeds- few
Urad dhal- few
Red chilly- 1(whole)
Water-2 cups
Salt as needed
Oil- 1 tsp
Method

Moong dhal/ Siruparuppu- 1/2 cup
Tomato-2(small cubes)

Curry leaves- few

Urad dhal- few
Red chilly- 1(whole)

Method
- Dry roast the moong dhal for about 3 minutes.
- In a pressure cooker, add moong dhal, tomato cubes, grated potato, sliced onion, slit green chillies, turmeric powder, grated ginger, salt, water and give a stir.
- Cook all this for 4 whistles in medium flame.
- Once cooked, take off the lid of pressure cooker and smash the cooked dhal well.
- Add finely chopped coriander leaves and if u need to adjust the consistency of sambar, add some water and make it to boil.
- In a pan, add oil, mustard seeds, urad dhal, curry leaves, red chilly and add it to the sambar.
